What, Where, When
Jay's Ride is a charity fundraiser in honor of Detective Jason Weiland, who was killed in the line of duty during the tragic events of March 22, 2017. On Saturday, September 14th participants can join us on a bike ride or a 5k run/walk on the Mountain Bay Trail starting from the rear of Weston Lanes. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Weiland Criminal Justice Scholarship at Northcentral Technical College and Crossroads K9's for Cops.
At the event itself there will be plenty of food and entertainment available. We will have on-site raffles, memorabilia, a family friendly magician all followed at 8pm by live music from Rising Phoenix! Registered participants get into the show for free, all others will be asked for a $5 donation at the door.
The event is not a timed race! Ride/Run/Walk at your own pace, or better yet, get a bunch of friends and make it a fun time together!
Adults (16+) - $20 (includes state trail fee)
Kids 10 to 15 - $15
Registration by 9/6/19 will include an event t-shirt. Registration 9/7 - 9/13 includes a wristband but no t-shirt. Registration 9/14 $25 does not include shirt or band.
Kids 9 & Under - Free ($10 if you want a shirt for them)
We have two designated lengths marked on the trail, but people are welcome to ride whatever distance they are comfortable with.
1. 22 miles - for the more athletic among us, you can ride out 11 miles to where the trail intersects with Cty Y in Hatley and back
2. 13 miles - this will be a ride out 6.5 miles to where the trail passes in front of the Ringle Municipal Center, just before Cty Q. There is virtually no incline in this route and it can be completed at a leisurely pace in about 60-70 minutes
There will be a refreshment stand in the parking lot of the Ringle Municipal Center - feel free to grab a beverage and rest for a bit!
3. Something less - participants are free to choose to turn around at the point they deem appropriate. We encourage you to do so at points of intersection where there is more room (Cty J is 2 miles out, another road at about 3 miles, etc)
The Run/Walk will be 5k. All ages and abilities welcome.
All times as of July 10 2019
We plan for the bike ride to begin at 130pm, sending out riders first that plan to do the 22 mile route, then the 13 milers, then the short-distance folks. We want to make sure the trail isn't overcrowded with people of varying riding abilities.
The 5k Run/Walk will start at 500pm.
We ask that you plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your start time to get signed in, hear any announcements, go through Wausau Trek's bike safety check station, etc.
Wausau Trek will be on site before the start of the ride doing bike safety checks.
We will have a volunteers on the trail for anyone that needs assistance, and we will have First Aid on site.
The Mountain Bay Trail primarily consists of packed gravel that is better suited for a mountain bike than a 10 speed type street bike. There isn't much incline in the parts of the trail that we are going to cover, so riders of all abilities will be able to ride. Below is a map of the portion of the trail we will be covering.
